Eel Farming A Practical Guide for Beginners ( MONOPTERUS ALBUS )

Eels that have a latin name Monopterus albus has long been known by the public both Indonesia and abroad due to protein content and high nutrients. Most people with eating eel berangapan will add to the vitality of the body, and partly it as a cure for some types of diseases. Live eels in their natural habitat paddy fields, marshes or muddy places, eels are able to live in conditions of less water habitats because of his ability to absorb oxygen directly from the skin.
So far, the existing eel eel catches in the market is natural, but to meet the needs of the market started to develop eel aquaculture. What should be prepared to launch this eel, a little sharing knowledge about eel.

Pool

Eel rearing ponds can use a permanent pool (walls) with an ideal size 500 cm X 500 cm 120 cm depth, the pool of former Drum / barrel, pond nets and yet you can also use the pool tarp with the size 400 cm X 200 cm with a depth of 100 cm . Using a pool tarp is more efficient and easily removable if you want to move to another place. Ph water conditions ideal for eel is 5-7 with a water temperature between 16-21 degrees Celsius. To avoid the temperature rise due to a swimming pool better direct sunshine or in roofed give hyacinth plants above the water surface.

Media Maintenance

Media live eel made the best possible real close to natural conditions. After you prepare the pool mentioned above, the next step is to fill the pond with media maintenance of order and size as follows :
1. Hay as high as 25-40 cm.
2. 5 kg of urea fertilizer and 5 kg of NPK (pool size 500 cm X 500 cm or comparison).
3. Mud / soil as high as 5 cm.
4. Manure as high as 5 cm.
5. Compost as high as 5 cm.
6. Mud / soil as high as 5 cm.
7. Banana Stem chopped 10 cm tall.
8. Mud / soil as high as 15 cm.
9. Water as high as 5 cm.

To speed up the fermentation medium above the manure and compost can be used Fermentor or liquid fertilizer Organic dg microbe content to make compost as EM 4, Nasa, Superfarm, or NOPKOR the most effective, affordable and accessible (pour evenly over dose of one liter for dg Pool size 500 cm X 500 cm or comparison).

This maintenance medium in the fermentation process to make it happen let it stand for approximately two to three weeks, or at least a month old so ready to be sprinkled with seeds / seedlings to be cultivated eels. To know the media is ripe with a bamboo stick / faralon to the bottom of the pond slowly lift up when the bubbles clear and no smell of the medium has matured. Once cooked medium tap water for 3-4 days to eliminate the toxins during a day set aside for the new seeds can be spread.

Preparation of Seed / Seedling Eel

Implementation of enlargement can be started after the media maintenance and pool ready. The next step is to choose a good eel seeds so the results can be maximized. This eel seeds should be chosen the perfect or normal and get rid of that is not normal.Eels this quality will produce good results, so it will grow well too.
Eels quality meets the following requirements:
1. Member body that is intact and smooth, no bite or scratch wounds.
2. Nimble and aggressive movement.
3. Healthy appearance which characterized the body that hard and does not limp when held.
4. The body and head, balanced / small and brownish yellow.
5. Age between 2-4 months.

Not recommended seed is black with reddish abdomen seprti seeds will grow up stunted, avoid buying visually stun seed, seed cheese is the catch with wuwu / Bubu.

Diet and Eating Habits of Eels

Eels are carnivores or predators of other animals, naturally eat small animals are still alive such as snails, worms, kids fish, snails, etc.. Feeding was started after the seeds go into the pool magnification after 3 days to 4 days or so is not justified to give artificial feed / palette every day should alternate two or three days in order to obtain maximum productivity. Amount of feed given should be in accordance with eel growth itself. As an illustration the first month of maintenance is needed 5% of total / seed weight in the density (say 40 kg of seed needed two kg of feed). Age as much as 6.5% 1-2 months, 2-3 months to as much as 8% and 3-4months were 10%.

Pests and Diseases

1). Pests in the eel is a direct high-level animals disturb the life of an eel.2). In the wild and in open ponds, which often attack eels pests include: beaver, snakes, frogs, birds, insects, fish and water mongoose cork.3). In the yard, especially in urban areas, pests are often attacked only frogs and cats.
Maintenance is not a lot of intensive eel pest attack. While common diseases that attack is a disease caused by low levels of organisms such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, and protozoa that are small.

Harvest

Harvesting of eels in the form of two types:1) Represent the seeds / seed sold to bred / grown.2) Represent the final result of maintenance eels ready for sale for consumption (size / length in accordance with market demand / consumer 10 ~ 15 tails / kg).
Catching eels the same way as other fishing equipment including: Bubu / posong, net / nets, soft-edged, with a fishing rod or a hook and draining the pool water so that live eels taken alone.
Hope can be a guide for beginners and useful for all of usTie your deeds with the knowledge that will benefit society
